Van Island Artist Summer Talk Series

Join the Eavesdrop team for an inspiring online summer talk series featuring local queer artists from Vancouver Island!

Every Monday between June 9th and July 14th, from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm PST, Eavesdrop will host a virtual artist talk. Each session will be on a different topic in the areas of either literary or visual arts. Dive in with queer, local artists as they talk about craft, their journeys, and the industry. Come to one talk, come to them all, we are happy to have you as often as you can come!

These sessions are all free, but donations toward future Eavesdrop programming are warmly welcome. Register early as the sessions have a capacity limit, and please return your ticket if you can no longer attend so someone waiting can join :)

Summer Emerging Writer Workshops

This summer, the Eavesdrop team is hosting mini writing workshops to coincide with our talk series. For six weeks, we will talk about craft, visit prompts, and create work ready to read.

Preference will be given to queer writers located in the Cowichan Valley, and then Vancouver Island, but everyone is welcome to apply. There will be three sessions with a different facilitator in each session. We have 15 spots in total.

Commitment to a one-hour virtual workshop per week and any writing the facilitator encourages is required. Facilitators will choose a time that works for the group, but the sessions will be sometime in the evening after 6pm between Tuesday and Friday. Each session will have its own digital forum where members can share ideas, chat, and organize before workshop times. Each participant will have a piece workshopped by the group by the end of the workshop.

The goal is to have as many workshop participants attend an in-person reading as possible! If you’re nervous to read, this is your opportunity to gain some confidence in a supportive, fun, non-competitive environment ~

Fill out the form below to apply. We will be in touch by June 2nd.
