We’re looking for action, passion, rage, and stories that uplift those looking for hope. In a world that continues to threaten sovereignty and safety, we want to spread solidarity. In the face of bigotry, hatred, and theft of rights, we want your best political pushback, your sharpened claws and teeth, and your unhinged spirit choking them with their own hypocrisy.
Together, we resist.
Contest guidelines:
Eavesdrop is a queer-focused multimedia magazine. Our tone is inclusive, playful, and passionate.
Eavesdrop accepts any and all genres. Space opera, niche cryptid horror, experimental formats, and anything in between. However, please note that we will not accept graphic sexual violence, hate speech, or discriminatory works. If your piece contains violence, deliver it with purpose. We recognize that violence is, unfortunately, part of our queer experiences, and we never want to censor anyone’s experience, but Eavesdrop wants to create a safe community for our content consumers and fellow artists. If you have any questions about this policy, please feel free to email us at eavesdroplitmagazine@gmail.com.
This submission period is open from April 25th until May 28th

How to Submit:
We accept poetry submissions in written form and spoken word. Please keep audio time under ten minutes if possible. We are a small team and it will help us return responses much quicker.
Eavesdrop accepts submissions via email to submissions@eavesdropmagazine.ca or through the file function on the form. Please include your name and “resist contest” in the file name. Alternatively, if you are more comfortable submitting audio through another platform such as YouTube or Vimeo, or on a personal website, please provide us access to a private link.
DO NOT include your name on the piece itself.
If you submit via email, please also fill out the form to your right (below on mobile). To be considered, you MUST submit your piece, fill out the form, AND send your submission fee.
Also, please send written submissions in DOC or DOCX files (not PDFs, .pages, or other random files that we can’t open on any computer/leave comments easily, because that makes us sad). Audio files should:
not have background music (unless there are sounds imperative to the performance).
be submitted as a .wav file, as these are higher quality than an .mp3 file.
We accept simultaneous submissions, but please let us know as soon as possible via email if your piece has been accepted elsewhere. Winners will be announced by the end of June, 2025.
All submissions should be original and previously unpublished. We do not accept any work that has been partially or entirely written by Artificial Intelligence or pieces with computer-generated text or visuals.
